Would I Lie To You?

I recently checked my Technorati page, to see if anyone new had linked to me who I should check out, as occasionally I expand my circle of blog friends this way. I found a link referring to my earliest Rock Star post which indicated that I "claimed to know Lukas" (contestant on Rockstar).

It's funny, because while we all know the Net is full of bad/misinformation, I have never thought as my own content as worthy of suspicion. Of course, to anyone who has read more than 1 post of mine, it would be obvious that I am not "a fan" of someone on a reality show trying to have a connection to him, but was speaking conversationally to my friends about a funny and small past connection to someone currently in the public eye. At that time, it was unknown whether Lukas would get past episode one, let alone become the target of so much female attention (and backbiting among females). It's getting kinda crazy out there - I have even heard that Lukas's own girlfriend picks fights with his admirers on message boards. I think we have a sensation on our hands, reminicient of the violent New Kids On The Block frenzy of 1990 (which those of us who took our little sisters to see in concert are still waiting for payback on).

Having worked hard (and been plain lucky) to cultivate a well -informed, civilized group of commenters I think it might be time to add a note to any newer readers of this page: When I talk about celebrity gossip or speculate, it's assumed I don't know these people - or want to. When I talk about my life, it's all true, no claims necessary. I may embellish a bit on one topic: my horrible neighbours, but it's for the greater good.

This post has the bitchy tone of Dave Navarro's blog, something hard to achieve without Dave Navarro's celebrity life, lifestyle, and - (ok Dave M - aka my Dave) - Navarro's musical greatness. But I have to admit, Dave Navarro is very articulate for a musician, especially in contrast to Tommy Lee, and raises a very good point in his blog: A lot of people talk a lot of trash and get way too involved in a TV show they watch, and what he writes is at least about his own, real life. Thank Royal Tenenbaum I didn't limit this blog to some fan page, but rather created something that I can breathe my own life into once in a while.

Well said! I should see if I have a "claims to know Lukas Rossi" tag anywhere I post...then again, I'm a guy and really don't have anything to gain by a lie of that nature so it's probably not in question!

I agree, well said. It didn't sound at all bitchy to me. A good introduction for those new to your blog too :)

This is the first I've read about your Lukas stuff (I may have read it before and just don't recall...my memory sucks most of the time). Anyway, can't be worse than what others do. I'm actually related to someone famous but don't dare blog about it because
1. I don't know her and never met her
2. I cannot stand her LOL

Your loyal fans know that you would NEVER be a hanger-on, that you are a true original and that you create something which is far larger than the parts which you may have used to start the process.

I haven't checked Dave Navarro's blog - maybe that would push my Supernova obsession over the top. As for someone writing that you "claim to know Lukas," I thought you made the connection pretty clear. The contestants on this show have been (for the most part) grinding it out on the underground scene so it's possible that people would actually know them ... or have a connection. Hearing your connection gave me a good reason to root for the guy and I liked that.

*L* That's so weak - that someone goes to such length to dispute something you blogged. Especially regarding someone who's been performing and presumably has had hundreds or thousands of acquaintances as a result. I seem to recall you mentioned he dated a friend of yours? Well, that expands the bubble exponentially.

Dave Navarro IS incredibly bright. Oh, and he's one of my favorite men in makeup, actually. meow.
